Holiday leftovers are the best! Today, I am sharing a few of my favorite leftover turkey recipes.
While I love a turkey sandwich, I have found that if I rely on turkey sandwiches to use up all of the leftover turkey, much of it will end up going to waste. So I create a plan for how I am going to use the leftovers before I even roast our turkey. My plan doesn’t mean that I feed my family a different turkey recipe every night for a week after Thanksgiving. Instead, I include a few turkey recipes in my menu plan for the week after Thanksgiving and freeze the rest in the portion sizes I will need for the turkey recipes that I serve in December. Having precooked turkey in the freezer means I can create quick and easy dinners on the busy nights leading up to Christmas.
While I clean up the kitchen after our Thanksgiving dinner, my husband carves up the turkey. He divides the meat up into usable portions and places some in the refrigerator for our immediate use and some in the freezer for me to use in leftovers.
After all the meat has been removed, I use the turkey bones to create Turkey Broth in a Slow Cooker. Once I have the broth made, I am ready to use it as a base in many of the recipe below. If you don’t have time to make broth shortly after Thanksgiving, you can always freeze the turkey carcass and make homemade turkey broth at a more convenient time.
