Best Flower Bulbs To Plant This Fall

Before you begin planting your flower bulbs, you’ll want to make sure your flower bed is ready for planting bulbs.  Prune back any plants that won’t be flowering in the winter months, and go ahead and pull up those dead flowers.  While you may not need immediate fertilizer for the bulbs to grow, you’ll want to go ahead and till up the dirt and make sure it is ready to nourish your bulbs for growing in the Spring.  We even have some great tips on how to prepare your flower beds in the fall for next Spring.

Dutch Iris

These beautiful flowers are extremely popular because they grow almost anywhere and do so rather easily. Only the coldest locales will keep this fall planted bulb from coming to life. When they do bloom, the variations are beautiful and vibrant in colors.  There are numerous colors to choose from, with white, pink, and purple being most common.  Whether you order your Dutch Iris Bulbs online or pick up at a local nursery, check for planting recommendations for your region for best results.

Darwin Hybrid Tulips

These are majestic and large-flowered tulips that are extremely popular.  Tulips come in many colors, but the pink, orange, and yellow are typically the most sought after  Longer stems and bright blooms make these popular for the back of a lower garden, or simple for cutting and arranging in your home.  There are many varieties of tulips to choose from, and a wide array of colors in Darwin Hybrid Tulips flower bulbs to add to your garden.

Allium Flowers

This common tall round flower is one everyone loves seeing in their garden in the Spring.  Allium Bulbs are easy to pick up and add to the back of your garden for height and a pop of color. Purple is the typical color found, but in some instances, you will find them in pinks and white.

Apricot Whirl Daffodils

When looking for a soft delicate flower to be on shorter side of your garden, this unique daffodil is a favorite.  The Apricot Whirl Butterfly Daffodil is the classic color, but they come in many shades that will add a pop of beauty to your flower garden or any arrangement next Spring.

Hyacinth

Hyacinths are one of our favorite fall flower bulbs to grab since they are tall and come in such a large variety of shades.  The lavender and pink are more popular, but you can find them in white and even occasionally orange or yellow.  Tiny flowers that make up each beautiful larger flower are a study in beauty.  Ideal for areas where you need taller flowers, these are a favorite of most gardeners.

These are our favorite picks for fall flower bulbs to plant for your Spring flower garden.  Planning ahead with these bulbs and other great gardening tips can make your Spring flower garden easy to manage and a beautiful asset to your home and property.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
