This evening I wanted to make lasagna, but before I could make lasagna, I needed to make Spaghetti Sauce. And before I could make Spaghetti Sauce I had to make Italian Seasoning…
Making your own seasoning mixes allows you to tailor them to your tastes. It also gives you control over the quality and saves you a few pennies. When I make my own seasoning mixes, I am able to save even more money by using herbs that I have grown and dried myself. It is still early enough in the season for you to start an herb garden for yourself.
- 2 tablespoons oregano
- 2 tablespoons basil
- 2 tablespoons parsley
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- ½ teaspoon rosemary
- In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Mix well.
- Store in an airtight container.
More spice mixes you can make from scratch:
Poultry Seasoning
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Taco Seasoning

I love that you are using spices you have grown and dried yourself for this, and what a delicious combination of herbs you have chosen. Great ideas for the herb garden as well. Thank you for sharing this post with the Hearth and Soul blog hop.
