10 Free Date Night Ideas for Spring & Summer - a list of date night ideas that are free or cheap so you can enjoy a date night even if you're on a budget.

Spring is here and love is in the air!  It’s time to get out and spend time with the one you love but costs of traditional date nights can quickly cause you to stay in instead.  Here are 10 Free Spring & Summer Date Night Ideas that are sure to come in handy on those nights you have a sitter but don’t have a large budget to work with.  Perfect for rekindling romance with your lover or simply enjoying a new adventure with your new love.

10 Free Date Night Ideas for Spring & Summer

Go For A Hike.  With the beauty of Spring and all of the new blooms out it is a perfect time to put the walking shoes on and head out for a hike to take in your local scenery and some fresh air.  Pack a picnic snack and plenty of water and bug spray and explore with your love.

Volunteer at a local shelter or soup kitchen.  Nothing endears you more to the person you love than seeing them serving others selflessly.  A great free and encouraging date night is to volunteer together to help out at a local soup kitchen or shelter.  Cleaning, cooking or serving are all great things to do together to get to know more about your personalities and give back to the community.

Go On A Picnic.  Pack a backpack, picnic basket or even your kids lunchbox with sandwiches or your favorite picnic foods and find a local park to spread a blanket and enjoy some quiet time with each other.  If you have on hand grab a bottle of wine, some gourmet cheese and candles for a more romantic evening picnic date.

Create An At Home Spa Day.  Who says men don’t like being pampered too?  Create your own homemade salt and sugar scrubs, grab some massage oils and set up your bedroom and bathroom for a fun day of facials, foot massages, body massages and a romantic bubble bath together.

Play Video Games.  Let’s face it, there are tons of men out there that simply want to relax at home in their sweatpants in front of the latest release video game.  What would make it better? Having the woman in their life right beside them playing, laughing and having fun.  Get familiar with your man’s favorite video games and challenge him to an evening or afternoon at home playing and competing with each other.

Cook A Special Meal Together.  Go shopping for a special or different menu and get in the kitchen together.  Not only is it fun to do things together it helps you to learn to work as a team and use each others strengths.  Feeding each other the result is the ultimate ending to the “date”.

Play Strip Poker.  Okay, so this one is definitely one you can only do if the kids aren’t home, but it is truly a great way to relax, have fun, a few laughs and enjoy your spouse.  Grab some cards, head to the bedroom and challenge each other to a few rounds of poker or any other card game you prefer.

Take in local live music.  Check out the entertainment section of your local newspaper for local live music playing this weekend.  Some areas have outdoor amphitheaters set up in parks for free entertainment.  Other areas you’ll have to head to a local dive, bar or club to listen.  Plan on packing drinks or snacks if going to an outdoor event or possibly having to buy a drink or two to snag a great corner table at a local dive or bar.

Create an at home Movie Marathon.  Grab your favorite series of movies or even television show, a few sodas, some candy and popcorn and snuggle on the couch or in bed for a movie marathon at home.  Shut the door, turn off the ringers and enjoy the quiet time together without interruptions.

Go Fishing.  Grab the poles and tackle box and head to the local fishing hole for a fun afternoon adventure.  Let him bait your hook while you giggle and squeal as he chases you with a wiggling worm.  Relax in the quiet together and enjoy the cool breeze off the water while you work on catching your dinner.

No matter what your personality or preferences are there are surely a few things on this list of 10 fun free date night ideas that will suit you as a couple.  Remember that a date night isn’t about what you are doing but who you are doing it with.  Dating your spouse, your significant other or your new crush is all about getting to know each other, connecting on a deeper level and having fun.  As long as those things are included the venue and cost of the date won’t matter at all.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
