Summer is coming and that means it is maxi dress season! I love a good maxi dress because it is so versatile. You can wear it as a beach swimsuit cover-up, out in the evenings for dinner, and casually strolling through the farmer’s markets. If you are a maxi skirt kind of gal, you need a maxi dress or two. Here are some awesome free maxi dress patterns so you can make one that fits your style.

Upcycling projects are my favorite and this Maxi Dress Pattern from a sheet by Mabey She Made It is great! Use a vintage sheet and it’s ever better.

If you are a beginning level, you will love this very forgiving Ruffled Maxi Dress by Sugar Bee Crafts. This is a great step by step tutorial!

Another great beginning sewing pattern is this Easiest Maxi Dress Ever from Cation Designs. I love the straps on it. This would be a great casual dress.

I love the look and comfort of a shirred dress and this Shirred Maxi Dress Tutorial from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom looks surprisingly simple to make. If you are new to shirring, she has a tutorial for that too.

This Romantic Ruffled Maxi Dress from Sharon Sews is perfect for an outdoor spring or summer wedding, isn’t it? I love this one.

Make this Super Easy Summer Dress from Found in the Ali. It looks like it could be made very quickly and offers a couple of ways to wear it. Plus, it’s strapless.

I really like this Maxi Dress from a Knit Jersey Sheet by Dandelion Drift. It looks really modest and perfect for early Spring or fall or chilly summer nights.

This Maxi Dress from Charmed Liebling reminds me of a Greek goddess style dress. It looks very comfortable, doesn’t it?

Make this Peasant Maxi Wrap Dress from Cotton and Curls for something that is super comfortable this summer.

Doo-Dah Kids has a great pattern for a Nursing and Maternity Maxi  Dress. The perfect summer outfit for expecting moms!

I need a couple of plus size patters, quickly. My daughter who must be a 6X+, was in a very bad car accident. She won’t be able to wear her reg. clothes for awhile. I need to help her out, and make her a couple of robes for while she is in the hospital, and then some very loose, (flowy) dresses to wear when she gets home. Any help with ideas & pattern numbers would be appreciated. I am a good seamstress, so sewing is no problem, but do need help with a pattern, that would fit. The largest I have found are 3X or size 32. I live in a very small town, and it’s 50+ miles to a fabric store and patterns. ( I do a lot of mail-ordering.). Thanks, Sher

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
