Here are 10 free shorts patterns for women to expand your summer wardrobe!

Here are 10 Free Shorts Patterns for Women, including how to make cut off shorts, pleated shorts patterns, gym shorts and no pattern tutorials.

Shorts season is here, and I always get excited to pull out my warm weather wardrobe and start updating it for the new season. It seems that every year, I find pieces in there that either don’t fit or are no longer my favorite, so that means going out and adding to my collection. Despite the fact that they require far less material than slacks or jeans, shorts sure aren’t any lower in cost! I also find that it is often hard to find a good pair of shorts that fit just the way you want them to. If you have any skills on a sewing machine at all, you might enjoy making your own! Here are 10 free shorts patterns for women.

I love the trim on these Juba Shorts from Imagine Gnats by Dandelion Drift. They look fun and would be great casual or dressed up.

Jimmy Shorts from Fine Motor Skills are great for dressing up on a nice summer evening. They have pleats in the front and would look great made from a variety of fabrics.

These City Gym Shorts from Purl Soho are fashionable enough to wear around town but comfortable enough for the gym. The template and detailed tutorial make it easy to adapt to different sizes, and there is even a version for kids!

For some nice feminine touches to your summer wardrobe, why not make a couple pairs of these Floral Pleated Shorts with a Bow from Cotton + Curls.

These DIY Summer Shorts from Plan B: Anna Evers are great to make several pairs from. They are a great basic shorts pattern for any outfit this summer.

If you ever wondered what was the best way to make Cut-Off Denim Shorts, check out this tutorial from Create/Enjoy.

Weekend Designer has a great pattern and detailed instructions on how to make some Cuffed Shorts just like the ones seen on the runways.

These Scalloped Shorts are super cute, aren’t they? Get the free pattern for sizes extra small to large on Sew it All Magazine.

This draft your own pattern tutorial for Nautical Shorts from Refashion Co-op is easy to follow and you could make many pairs in no time at all.

This is more of a refashion, but you can make these cut off Aztec Shorts with the tutorial from Boat People Vintage.

If you have a favorite pant pattern you would like to adapt, try these tips from MellySews on How to Sew Shorts from a Pants Pattern.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
