Paper clips are great for keeping your bills and letters organized, but did you know they are also great for many other household purposes too? Take a look below at 10 frugal uses for paper clips that you need to try. You will be amazed at how practical these little clips can be.

10 Frugal Uses for Paper Clips

1. Replace a broken zipper.
If you find yourself with a broken off zipper pull, simply replace the part with a paper clip. Pull the paper clip through the hole at the top of the zipper and pull. You can now grasp the paper clip just as you would the zipper pull.

2. Make an egg dipper.
Whether you are coloring eggs or just wanting to boil them, you can make an easy and inexpensive egg dipper from a paper clip. Simply bend the clip so that a circle is created at the bottom and a handle reaches up to the top. Place the egg in the circle and hold onto the handle for easy dipping.

3. Make your own floral arrangement.
There is no need to buy florist wire to make your bouquets look picture perfect. Instead, unwind a paper clip and use it to support the stem. Simply wrap the wire around the stem to offer support then press it into florist foam to create all sorts of fun looks.

4. Hold your keys in place.
If you need to drop spare keys off to a neighbor or friend, use a paper clip to keep them secure. It is cheaper and faster than going out and buying a keychain.

5. Do your own nail art.
If you have girls that love fancy nails, a paper clip is great for making fun nail designs. Just unwind the paper clip and dip the tip into your paint. Use it as you would a pencil to draw on designs of your choice. The fine tip is perfect.

6. Hang Christmas ornaments.
Don’t worry if you run out of ornament hooks. You can always use a paper clip instead. They are nice and sturdy and great for holding even the heaviest of Christmas ornaments. For the rest of the year, use them to hang window décor or other household décor pieces.

7. Keep snack packages closed.
Don’t eat stale snacks again. Instead, use paper clips to secure snack bags shut after you open them. It is a great way to be sure they stay shut and air stays out.

8. Unclog bottles.
If your glue or paint bottles have become clogged, a paper clip is the perfect way to unclog it. Just unwind the clip and use the fine tip to clean any congestion that is blocking the hole.

9. Keep money organized.
Paper clips are a fun way for kids to keep their money organized. They make an inexpensive money clip that kids are sure to feel cool using.

10. Keep your bread fresh.
Don’t you hate it when you misplace the bread tie? No worries, tie the bread bag closed with a paper clip instead. It is an easy way to make the loaf last longer.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
