Who doesn’t like a little honey every now and then? It is so sweet and simple, and perfect when added to toast, tea, or your peanut butter sandwich. But did you know that honey has many other valuable uses as well? It sure does! In fact honey can be used in all sorts of ways edible and non edible to make your life a little easier and even more luxurious. Take a look below at 20 uses for honey that you can try!

20 Frugal Uses for Honey

1. Find some energy.
A teaspoon of honey added to your beverage can give you a little energy boost thanks to the natural sugars.

2. Sweeten up a fruit salad.
Add some natural sweetness to your fruit salad by stirring in a teaspoon of honey before serving.

3. Make your own face mask.
All you need to do is mix a teaspoon of honey with moisturizer and water and apply it to your skin in a gentle massaging motion. Then just rinse and pat dry.

4. Boost your workout.
Some people enjoy drinking a shot of honey prior to working out. The natural sugar gives them fast and healthy energy and can even help you find mental clarity.

5. Treats cuts.
Honey is a natural antiseptic, so feel free to dab it on any cuts or scraps you might experience.

6. Soften dry skin.
Apply some natural honey to dry heels and elbows and massage it gently. Rinse and repeat if necessary for smoother, glowing skin.

7. Lose weight.
Honey is said to speed up the metabolism so why not add a teaspoon or two to your morning tea or spread some on wheat toast or fruit.

8. Enjoy a luxurious bath.
Make your bath time special when you add a few teaspoons of honey to the warm water. It will make your skin glow and leave the water smelling sweet.

9. Soothe a sore throat.
Honey can help coat a scratchy and sore throat and help promote healing. Enjoy a spoonful next time your throat is aching.

10. Prevent disease.
Honey can prevent many serious diseases such as cancers, arthritis, and more. Enjoy a teaspoon on toast for good measure each day and see what a difference it can make to your health.

11. Protect your hair.
Rub a teaspoon of honey into your hair and rinse well with cool water. It will help protect your hair, soften rough ends, and moisturize.

12. Relieve over indulgence.
Over-Indulgence is a kind way of saying you enjoyed a little too much wine. Enjoy some honey mixed with warm water to help counteract the symptoms of over-indulgence.

13. Sleep well.
Honey can help you fight off insomnia, so enjoy a teaspoon in some warm milk before lying down and enjoy a peaceful slumber.

14. Banish acne.
Apply a small dab of honey to a cotton swab and place it on facial acne. Let it set for a few minutes and then rinse. Inflammation and redness will be gone.

15. Calm a nervous stomach.
Soothe your tummy by mixing warm water, honey, and ginger if you have some and sipping slowly. This is an ancient remedy that many people still use to this day and swear by!

16. Treat sunburn.
Apply honey diluted with water to sunburned areas. It acts as a natural antiseptic and will soothe and treat the damaged area.

17. Kill parasites.
Campers will often sip water that has been boiled with honey to kill any internal parasites they may have as a result of drinking contaminated water or food.

18. Get your daily vitamins.
Keep honey on hand in case of an emergency where you would need additional vitamins and nutrients. It stores well and has a long shelf life, so it can come in handy should the need for vitamins arise.

19. Fight allergies.
By consuming locally created honey you may be able to better fight seasonal allergies and avoid the symptoms that come with them. Some allergy sufferers enjoy a teaspoon a day to help combat seasonal allergies.

20. And of course….eat it!
Honey can be added to cereal, oatmeal, breads, baking mixes, candy mixes, teas, and so much more. Just a teaspoon is all you need to make a tasty difference to your beverage or meal.

As you can see, honey is pretty sweet, isn’t it? With all of these great uses, you will want to be sure you have a bottle on hand at all times. Your local farmer’s market or even corner grocer is a great place to grab a bottle for yourself, and with so many varieties and flavors to choose from, you will never get bored with it.
