5 Easy Ways To Become A Morning Person - Becoming a morning person can be hard but here are some things you can do that will help the process along.

Becoming a morning person won’t happen overnight, but there are some things that you can do that will help the process along. Here are a few simple ways to help put a little pep in your sleepy step in the morning hours.

5 Easy Ways To Become A Morning Person

1. Get to sleep earlier.

An easy answer, but getting to bed earlier and shutting down can sometimes be difficult these days. Work stresses, parenting demands, and of course late night TV and internet chatting can pose a problem when it’s time to shut the lights out and clear your mind to drift off to sleep. Dimming the lights, turning off the TV, reading, and avoiding caffeine and alcohol are just a few ways to avoid waking you up even more when it’s time for bed. Here are some natural ways to fall asleep.

2. Brighten the lights.

Of course a dark, cozy room is best for a great night’s sleep, but once that alarm sounds and it’s time to get moving, get those lights on, or even better, open the curtains or shades and let the natural light in. It will surely help wake you up.

3. Program the coffee maker.

Use a programmable coffee maker because simply smelling the fresh brewing coffee may be enough to motivate you to rise and shine. If you are not a java lover, try walking by the local coffee shop and take in the aroma. I just may do the trick. Here are some more things you can prep the night before.

4. Get outside.

An early morning walk when the sun comes up is by far one of the best ways to get you motivated for the day. Not only is the exercise good for your body, but it’s even better for your mind. And the added bonus is burning calories before you even have breakfast.

5. Eat Breakfast.

We all know the saying that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” so make sure to eat a healthy breakfast instead of opting for just a cup of coffee. After we sleep, ou rmetabolisms and blood sugar levels decrease, so we need a good, healthy meal to help re-energize us.

So try to avoid hitting the snooze button over and over again, get up and rise early, and take on the day. Research has shown that there is a link between being an early riser and having a happier and healthier lifestyle. Get up, get out, and grab it.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
