5 Steps To A Sparkling Clean Kitchen - Here are five simple steps to keep your kitchen sparkling clean everyday that only take a few minutes.Every mom loves walking into their kitchen in the morning for a cup of coffee and seeing a clean kitchen. These 5 Steps To A Sparkling Clean Kitchen are easy to implement and perfect for keeping your home in top shape.  There is never a need to worry about how your kitchen looks if company drops by if you keep these easy steps in mind.

5 Steps To A Sparkling Clean Kitchen

Put dishes in dishwasher as you go.  This is one of the biggest things I have to say works for me. If we put our dishes directly in the dishwasher as we are done with them, the sink stays empty, and we keep them washed more regularly. When I cook meals, I immediately clean up as I go along. If it won’t go into the dishwasher, I take the time to wash up while food is cooling, and the kids are setting the table for dinner. Unless a pot or pan needs to soak to clean, I can usually spend less than 5 minutes putting dishes in the dishwasher to clean.

Keep a bottle of disinfectant handy at all times.  Those kitchen spills always seemed to happen at inconvenient times until I started keeping a small bottle of disinfectant spray and paper towels handy. The small 8 oz. spray bottle you would often find in trial size areas of the store is perfect for keeping at your sink by your soap. It is small and handy and makes it easy to spray those spills and counters down immediately instead of letting things stay on longer and get tough to get off.

Make your counters a no clutter zone.  This is a biggie. Kitchen counters tend to become the catch all for mail, keys, purses, cookbooks, and even school work. Make the kitchen a no clutter zone by adding some baskets for mail, and a small table or nook elsewhere to drop your purse and keys. Set up a dedicated homework station for kids to go to instead of your counter with their books. Keeping the random clutter of the counters will help you to be able to wipe them down easily and keep them clean all the time.

Utilize your slow cooker often. Want a clean kitchen? Use fewer utensils and tools that need cleaning. Menu plan with freezer meals, slow cooker meals, and dump meals as a frequent choice. These menu plans will help you to save your counters, stove, and tools from getting messed up. A slow cooker gives you freedom to wipe down counters, mop or sweep without having to tend a stove for hours.

Sweep daily. It may seem like a hassle, but the few minutes you spend at the end of the day sweeping through your kitchen can keep you from having to work harder later. If you let dust and dirt build up, it makes mopping that much harder to do. Invest in a Swiffer or similar product that catches the dirt and keeps your kitchen sparkling clean for anyone who stops by.

Get the family involved. The most important step to a sparkling kitchen is to accept your family must pitch in. No matter if you are a stay at home mom, work at home mom, or a mom who works outside the home – you are not the only one creating the mess and should not be the only one responsible for it.  Make a chart and make kids and your spouse chip in to cook, clean, set tables, and keep up with the daily chores in your home.

Keeping your home in order takes a lot of work and dedication, but you can easily have a sparkling kitchen if you follow these steps.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
