5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Paint Color- Picking the right paint color for your walls can be tricky. Make the job a little easier with these great tips.

Are you struggling with choosing the perfect paint color? Are you afraid of paint color commitment? Then take a look below at these 5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Paint Color. When you give these tips a try, you can feel more confident in the paint color you decide to go with and save some money and stress in the process. Here is how you can get started at choosing the perfect paint color for your space.

5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Paint Color

1. Try a digital makeover.
Many paint companies will offer you the chance to try a digital makeover. This means you can see what the color will look like in your space before you even paint a drop. Using these digital makeover programs is easy. You typically need to upload a photo of your space to the program and then the fun begins. Try all sorts of color and see how well they look in your space. Ask your local paint supplier if they have a program such as this for you to try out.

2. Evaluate your light.
It is important to see how much light filters into the space you are painting. If it doesn’t get much light, you will want to steer towards a lighter color. If your room gets plenty of natural light, you don’t need to fear a dark or medium toned color. Just knowing if you need light or dark colors can help you eliminate some choices.

3. Test out actual samples.
In the old days, people would bring the color swatches home and tape them to the wall. Now, many brands offer 2 oz. paint samples perfect for testing out at home. Grab a few samples that interest you and apply them in large 8×8 patches on the wall. Let the samples sit for 48 hours so you can view them during different times of the day and under different lighting. Since colors tend to change under various light, it is important to see them in their true light during this 48 hour period.

4. Look for pairings.
Once you have your choices narrowed down to a handful of colors, see if the brand offers any pairing suggestions. This can help you see if the color will match the overall theme of your home or your accent pieces. Looking at these pairings can help you decide if the color is truly for you and your current design. Pairings can also help you choose accent colors for an accent wall or furniture you wish to paint for the space.

5. Paint one wall entirely.
Once you think you have the perfect color, focus on one wall only. Don’t start on multiple walls, trim, etc. Instead, do one wall completely so you can see the finished result. If you like it, go ahead and finish the rest! If not, you only have one wall to fix and not an entire room, trim, and random spots.

Picking the perfect paint color can be tricky, but when you give these tips your consideration, you can make the job a little bit easier. Happy painting!

I think that is a good idea to paint one whole wall. That way you can see how the color is going to look on the wall or all four walls. That way if you want to change it you still can. Thank you for the tips!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
