These 6 ways to manage your time better will help you get more out of your day.
Are you struggling with time management? Who isn’t these days? It seems like either our days have gotten shorter or we are just busier than we used to be as a whole. It can be hard to try to figure out what needs our attention now and what can wait. If you need some quick tips to help you in this arena, here are 6 ways to manage your time better.
6 Ways to Manage Your Time Better
Learn to say NO – This one’s a biggie for most of us. I can’t tell you how many times I have said yes when I should have kindly said no instead. It’s ok to admit you can do it all or have it all. In fact, being able to do so will help you manage your time better by not overfilling it with too many tasks. This will allow you to not feel rushed and it will also give you time to take mental breaks between tasks. These tips on how to say no are helpful if you are in the habit of saying yes to everything.
Use technology – There are so many apps out there to help with time management. Use them to the greatest level! If apps aren’t your thing, use your phone’s planner/calendar, and set reminders for yourself so you know when to switch tasks.
Make sleep a priority – This might seem counterproductive, but make sure you get more sleep, not less in order to make more time. The reason is more sleep makes us more focused on our everyday tasks. This means we won’t have to re-do things as often and we can get things done in better time due to increased energy. If you are struggling to get enough sleep, check out these habits that sabotage sleep and how to fix them.
Get off social media– For someone like me who lives on social media, breaking this habit was a hard one. You don’t have to completely get rid of it, but make sure you are not allowing it to be a time suck. Set reminders to get off when you need to after a certain time and set up your notifications from these apps to “none”. This way, you won’t be constantly going into the apps to check the latest reply to your Facebook status update all day.
Get better at multitasking – To save time during the day, I try to do more than one thing at a time if it makes sense. This is not to overload myself, but rather to essentially kill two birds with one stone. For instance, if I am walking on a treadmill, I will often do tasks like clean out my email.
Ask for help when you need it – One surefire way to save time for yourself is to ask for help from others. If you have tasks that some people you know also have, make it all a group effort. You can get so much more done in a smaller amount of time.
