You’ve heard the term, “early to bed early to rise” and probably realize that everyone has a slightly different sleep schedule. For some people, going to bed early and getting up early feels natural. This is the person you think of as a “morning person.” They are naturally happy and energetic in the morning while others may consider themselves a “night owl.” It’s easier for them to stay up late and sleep in late. Whether you see yourself as either, it is actually better for you to follow that old adage, “early to bed early to rise.” These 6 Benefits of an Early to Bed Early to Rise Schedule will highlight a few reasons why!

6 Benefits of an Early to Bed Early to Rise Schedule

1. Feeling better rested.

The sleep and wake schedule that is better for you is to go to bed early and wake up early. Once you’ve adjusted to this more natural schedule you’ll feel better rested.  Your mom wasn’t joking when she said it is better to follow the tip of early to bed early to rise.

2. Getting a head start to your day.

There never seems to be enough time in the day. Being early to bed early to rise will help you tremendously. Getting up early will give you a head start to your busy schedule ahead. You hear the birds singing and you feel ready to start your day.

3. You can watch the sunrise.

There is just something so peaceful and serene about watching the sunrise. It gives you a sense of excitement for the coming day. The only way to get up early everyday and feel energized is to go to bed early everyday.

4. Coffee is your best friend.

Coffee can be a great pick me up early in the morning. The aroma of coffee brewing and a beautiful new day go hand in hand. Take the time to enjoy this moment. Mentally charge yourself, and you’ll be on the start to a great day.  You could even invest in a programmable coffee pot so it is brewing when your alarm goes off each morning.

5. Taking a nap before 10 a.m. sounds awesome.

Naps are good for you, but taking a nap late in the day will keep you up at night. That’s one reason why going to bed early is such a better routine for you. If you need a little more rest you can take your nap in the late morning, and not mess with your sleep schedule at night. Plus, if you have little ones this is a great time for a nap for them, as well.

6. A new perspective.

Being that person that is early to bed early to rise will give you a new perspective on life. You feel a sense of accomplishment that you woke up early and worked through the day. Going to bed early with feel like a reward well deserved.

You can successfully change your sleep and wake schedule with consistency and a desire to change. Going to bed early is a big part of getting the rest you need and starting your day energized and ready. Are you up to the challenge?

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
