7 Creative Ways to Organize Your Fabric
1. Utilize a wine rack. Sure, that decorative wine rack is great for wine bottles, but who says it can’t hold your fabric too? Just roll your fabric up into a cylinder/roll shape and slide it into the rack. This is a perfect way to store that fabric and keep it wrinkle free in the process.
2. Try a drying rack. Collapsible drying racks are perfect for keeping your fabric wrinkle free and displayed for easy access. You can buy these for under $20 at most retail stores and they can be set up anywhere. Then, just fold your fabric and drape it over the drying rack until you need it.
3. Don’t toss those skirt hangers. Skirt hangers are perfect for holding and hanging your fabric pieces. Just fold the fabric and clip it to the hanger. You can then hang the fabric up in a spare closet or anywhere that a hanger can rest. It will keep the fabric off the ground and wrinkle free.
4. Grab the Ziploc bags. If you are worried about moisture or pests, consider storing your fabric in Ziploc bags. The large gallon bags are perfect for large fabric pieces, just fold them up and slide them in. When you lock the bag moisture, odor, and pests will stay out. You can then just stack the bags in a spare closet or craft room.
5. Beautify your baskets. Try rolling your fabric up and assembling it in a decorative basket. This is a great way to display the fabric so it also acts as a decorative piece! You can find inexpensive baskets at thrift stores, then just roll and tuck the fabric. Place the baskets in your craft room or near your craft space for easy access.
6. Grab some storage totes. Storage totes come in all shapes and sizes and are perfect for keeping your fabric safe. Just fold, insert, and add the lid. Your fabric will stay nice and dry, and pests will stay out as well. You can opt for under the bed storage containers, closet containers, or stacking options. Tuck a dryer sheet in the container prior to filling it up to keep the fabric smelling fresh.
7. Over the door shoe holder. An over the door shoe holder is perfect for holding fabric pieces. Just roll the fabric up and tuck it into the pocket. This keeps the pieces off the floor and the clear pockets help you easily grab what you need. With so many over the door shoe holders to choose from, you are sure to find one that works for you!

The dryer sheet idea had not occurred to me so thanks! I stained some wood crates I am going to put plastic bins that have lids inside of them, once I stack the whole set. I made it because we have animals, to keep their fur off of my fabric, and also to organize my fabric by project.
I bought the crates on sale for $10 each, so I grabbed up 5 of them! Lightly sanded them, primed them, stained them, and next I am going to hand-paint (oil paint) my mottos on them, then seal it all up with abtop clear coat. Custom furniture for my fabric!
I am designing a sewing area for me/recreation area for my husband to watch TV. Time-intensive, but it will be nice when I finally finish it all! I bought two giant pegboards, and am getting anxious for my husband to drywall the area, too.
