Many people think that the keto diet has to be restrictive, but the truth is there are plenty of ways to eat at the restaurants you love while still staying on plan. 7 Keto Fast Food Items You Can Order

1. Bunless burgers.
Craving a burger? Go ahead and order it without the bun. Since keto focuses on high fat, you can add the cheese and mayo. Most places are use to bunless orders, so don’t hesitate to ask and reduce the carbs. If you wish, you can even have the burger wrapped in lettuce.

2. Grilled chicken.
Grilled chicken is perfect for keto, so order grilled chicken or a chicken sandwich also minus the bun. You can also add grilled chicken to any salads you order, as it will add flavor and protein without the carbs and sugars.

3. Burrito Bowls.
If you love burritos, try a burrito bowl. Try steak, veggies, beans, and some avocado, all served in a bowl instead of a shell. This cuts the carbs while still offering you a bowl full of flavor. You can even add a little sour cream.

4. Sausage.
When visiting your local drive-thru restaurant for a quick breakfast, add a sausage patty to your order. These are high in fat and low in carbs and sugar so you can start your day out right! If you drive thru offers bacon, that is also an option.

5. Eggs.
Need more fast food breakfast ideas? Eggs! Eggs are a staple of keto so feel free to order. When you drive thru and order breakfast, ask for a serving of plain scrambled eggs or egg rounds. You will get lots of protein and stay on track. Even McDonald’s offers eggs all day long now, so if you need a quick pick me up this is always an option, even at night!

6. Certain vegetable sides.
Many fried chicken places offer sides to add to your meal. While the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese might seem yummy, they are high in carbs. Instead, opt for green beans if they are an option. You can also do a small side salad if you wish.

7. Wings.
As long as they are grilled and not fried you can eat wings. Be sure the sauce isn’t high in sugar and enjoy! In most ca,ses you can pair with blue cheese and even a side of carrots and celery. Yummy AND healthy for you.

There are many fast food restaurants that offer other keto friendly options, like coffee, cold beverages, wraps, salads, and other bunless options. Be sure to ask as many don’t have these options on the menu and you have to ask for them. As always, stay away from soda and juice drinks which are high in sugar and will throw you off course. Desserts are the same, typically high in sugar and carbs and should be avoided.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
