How to Save Money on Baking Supplies - Give these money saving tips a try, so you can bake all of your favorite sweets and treats for less.

Do you love to bake? Many people do. But as you know, baking supplies can really add up. Instead of going broke each time you bake, take a look at these tips for how to save money on baking supplies. When you give these tips a try, you can bake all of your favorite sweets and treats for less. Here is how you can get started!

How to Save Money on Baking Supplies

1. Shop at the dollar store.
Dollar stores are great for metal baking pans, tin oil, parchment paper, even baking trays and cupcake cups. You can also find utensils, mixes, frosting, and more. Check out your local dollar store and see what baking supplies you can find for just $1.

2. Buy seasonal clearance.
At the end of each season, you will be able to find themed cupcake cups, frosting, mixes, and even decor candies. These items can be used all year long, no matter what the season is. When you see these seasonal clearance items snag them. People will love how your cupcakes taste, and not be worried about if they are in Halloween liners.

3. Stock up during October and November.
During the months of October and November baking supplies are at their lowest prices. Companies want to appeal to holiday bakers, and so they will offer sale prices and tons of coupons. Stock up for the year during these months so you have all of the supplies you need on hand. You can find more tips for saving money on holiday baking supplies here.

4. Take proper care of your supplies.
Store mixes, sugar, flour, etc. in air tight containers. Wash your pans well and dry thoroughly to avoid rust. Store utensils safely in divided trays. When you take care of your baking supplies, they will no doubt last you longer and give you more use.

5. Email your favorite brands.
Do you have a favorite brand of baking supplies? Whether it be a frosting, flour, or even cupcake liner brand, email the company and sing their praises. For being a loyal customer, they may be happy to send you some coupons to shop with. While you are at it, be sure to follow your favorite brands on social media. This means you should  “like” the pages of your favorite brands and follow them on Twitter. When you do you can get the chance to hear about new products which usually means coupons. You can also get free recipes, money saving tips, freebies, and more.

6. Make simple substitutes and save.
You can easily use powdered milk in place of fresh milk in your recipes and save. Frozen fruit can also be substituted if you don’t want to spend the cash on fresh fruit. When you make these simple substitutions, you can save some cash while still getting great flavor.

7. Don’t be afraid of generic brands.
Don’t be afraid to sample generic brands when baking. You don’t need pricey flour, frosting, sugar, or oils. Instead, give the store brand a try and see how it holds up. Many store brands offer a refund if they don’t meet your expectations, so it is no monetary loss to you to give them a try.

When you give these tips for saving money on baking supplies a try, you will find how fun AND frugal baking can be!

Katie, great tips! I especially like #4. I absolutely hate food waste, so I do my best to store things properly, rotate and use before expiration dates. And I like to buy really good quality kitchen equipment and take proper care of it so it lasts forever and never needs replacing.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
