Vintage Leaf Art
Supplies Needed:
- 1 leaf
- 1 page from a dictionary
- Glue
- Scissors
- Picture frame
A few things you should know:
You are welcome to use a found leaf if you wish, however it may dry and flake over time. For something more permanent, we used a faux leaf from our local dollar store. This way, we can display this piece for years to come and it will always look colorful and fresh. For the dictionary matting, you will just tear out a page from an old dictionary. We used a vintage one we found in a thrift store for $1. This is a great option so you are not ripping pages out of a dictionary you are still using. Last but not least, you don’t need a new picture frame. Ours was a thrift store find and works perfectly.
Directions:
- Take a page of your choice from the dictionary. Apply a light coating of glue to the back of your leaf.
- Press the leaf firmly to the dictionary page. Rub your palm over it to make sure it is flat and secure.
- Take the dictionary page, now with leaf attached, and insert it into your frame. Secure the backing and display.
That’s it! Three steps is all it takes to create this piece of fall art with a charming vintage vibe. You can continue this project if you wish several ways. You can always paint your frame if you wish, add scrapbook words to the paper backing, or even frame two smaller leaves if you chose. Get creative, have fun, and create something that reflects you.
Give this Vintage Leaf Art project a try. It would make a fun craft to do on girl’s night, or a fun craft to enjoy with your children. Either way, it ushers in the fall season frugally and gives you a finished project that is sure to get some attention.
Happy crafting!

I love this! Just yesterday I was wondering if I could learn how to press flowers (leaves) and simultaneously I noticed my mulberry leaves are actually… changing color! For Bakersfield, this is pretty darn amazing!
I’m happy to be here, coming from Alea’s award of Blogger of the Week in the Bad Ass Pinners group! Woot!
