How to Have a Clutter Free Home - tips for organizing your clutter

There’s no better time for change than at the beginning of the year.   New Year’s is the perfect time for making changes and this year we are going to organize and declutter our homes!    Did you know we actually are less stressed when our homes are free from clutter?

We are all guilty of having an unorganized mess off a home at some point!   Face it, we all love going into those homes that are clutter free, with everything in its place, all neat and tidy.  Ahh it just feels so good;  the more organized we make our home, the less chaotic it feels.    So let’s make that home our own.

I’m sure you will agree that creating a smooth running home is a priorty.     Here are 3 tips that will help you accomplish this task.

Start with one room or project at a time.

  • Maybe your closets are the most unorganized and overloaded with things you have forgotten about or never use.
  • Is your kitchen where you collect all the junk?  Does your family drop off everything on top of the kitchen counter?  If so, start sorting through it, putting it in your trash, donate or keep piles.

If it’s not important and not being used, lose it!

Set up zones or stations and keep things together.   This tip can apply to so many areas of your home such as games, craft supplies, snacks, you name it!   Keeping things together will save you a considerable amount of time when trying to find what you need.

  • Make it a family affair and teach your children that everything has a home.
  • Your children will more likely to enjoy it if you make it fun.    Make a game out of it, the best organizer wins a prize or the one who complains the least wins.
Now that everything is organized and neatly put away, the real challenge begins!  Maintaining the clutter can be very challenging if  things are not picked up and put away up daily.   Take a few minutes at the end of the day or first thing in the morning to straighten up and put things where they belong.  Once this becomes routine, not only does your home look neat and  organized, your home should start feeling less chaotic or stressful.   Who knows, your home may become one that friends and family enjoy visiting because it feels so relaxing.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
