5 Tips to Make Your House Look Clean in a Hurry- Need to make your house look clean with short notice? Tidy up each room quickly with these cleaning tips!

Don’t you just love it when unexpected guests show up? Or maybe your husband tells you friends are coming over in an hour? Personally, nothing stresses me out more than last-minute guests. Not because I don’t like to entertain, but because I have three children in my home and my home is never picture-perfect.

While we all want to have our homes looking perfect when guests show up, keep in mind that we are our own worst critiques. Your home probably doesn’t look as bad as you think it does. However, it’s always good to have a plan when you aren’t given much notice and need to tidy things up a bit. Here are 5 Tips to Make Your House Look Clean in a Hurry that will help you out.

5 Tips to Make Your House Look Clean in a Hurry

1. Don’t underestimate the power of a quick vacuum session around the home. I find that if your floors look clean it makes the rest of house feel and look much cleaner. This is an easy fix to making your house look clean in a hurry. This tip is also helpful if you have pets in the home. If you have wood floors break out the Swiffer!

2. Pick up any toys, laundry, or miscellaneous items laying out. Simply removing the clutter that is laying out around the home can make your house look more organized! Sometimes we don’t realize how much clutter we do have laying around the home. Encourage every family member to spend five to ten minutes picking up items and putting them in the correct area of the home.

3. A clean home smells good right? Your guests don’t need to know that you are rushing around trying to get company ready. Right before you start getting your home clean, light a candle. Lighting a candle will fill your home with a fresh scent that will naturally give off that fresh and clean smell we all desire.

4. Don’t forget the bathrooms! You never ever want a guest to go into your dirty bathroom. Most people won’t care if your living room is a little untidy but a dirty bathroom is a whole other ball game. Take twenty minutes and give your bathroom a decent cleaning. Be sure to wipe down the counters, empty the trash, and clean the toilet. Don’t forget to clean the inside of the toilet along with the rim of the bowl.

5. Wipe down kitchen counters and clean any dirty dishes sitting out. Nobody wants to eat out of a dirty kitchen and I’m sure your guests probably feel the same way. Take a few minutes to get your counters sparkling, do the dishes in the sink, and open a window to let any food smells escape.  If you have time, make sure to take a peak into your refrigerator. Toss out any old foods and make sure to give your fridge a quick wipe down. Opening your fridge to get your guest a drink, only to find a dirty fridge is never fun! Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
