If you want to get all your presents wrapped inexpensively, the dollar store is the place to go.

Stockings: Who wants to spend an arm and a leg on stockings that may get lost or ripped? Your local dollar store has inexpensive stockings in various sizes. Buy them in bulk if they have an online store, or buy them individually. The great thing about buying stockings at the dollar store is that you can also buy glitter glue and have the kids decorate them. This makes a fun Christmas craft.

Advent Calendars: All kids like to count down the days before Christmas, and dollar stores make this fun tradition affordable. For a dollar, your kids can have a whole 25 days’ worth of fun chocolates to pop open for each day before Christmas.

Christmas Decorations: A timeless tradition is decorating the house for Christmas. However, when you are strapped for cash, decorating isn’t a priority. You can still have fun with your Christmas tradition by finding decorations at the dollar store. From wreaths and knick knacks to Christmas crafts and snow globes, your house can become a Christmas wonderland.

We have a tradition in my household of buying stocking stuffers for each other at the dollar store. We each have a $10 budget, and can use that to buy gifts for our stockings. It’s a fun new tradition we started last year.

I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
