The start of a new school year can be stressful, use these tips to ease into your new school year schedule.

5 Tips to Easy Back to School Schedule Transitions- These great tips will help your child adjust to a new school year with minimum tantrums and frustration.

When back to school time arrives one of the biggest issues for most kids is getting adjusted to their new schedule. Here are 5 Tips To Easy Back To School Schedule Transitions to help you navigate the first few weeks and month of your kids back to school journey. Being prepared and focusing on changes ahead of time will help make this an easy adjustment with no tantrums or frustration.

5 Tips for Easy Back to School Schedule Transitions

Start a gradual transition.

Begin adjusting bedtimes 1-2 weeks prior to the start of school so your children are used to the earlier time. Start in 15-30 minute increments until they are going to
bed at their regular school week bedtime each night.

Do a few practice runs.

Instead of waiting until the first day of school to get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, and hit the road, do a few practice runs. The week before school begins, set your alarms for the regular school year times and get up with a timer set. Make sure everyone can do their daily morning tasks in the time allotted. Adjust your routine with some kids showering in the evening while others shower in the morning. This will help add more room and time each day to your morning schedule. Practice the typical school morning rush so if you need to add a few extra minutes to a kids schedule it will be simple to do.

Pick out clothes ahead of time.

Don’t have the morning stresses of who will wear what. Spend time on Sunday afternoon or evening to pick out clothes for the entire week and have them sorted and ready to grab and put on each morning.

Update your chore chart to reflect school chores.

Do your kids have extra chores during the school year? Perhaps they have fewer chores? Make sure to update your family
chore chart and have it in a convenient location for everyone to see daily.

Limit choices.

One of the biggest struggles for larger families is time management when choosing what to eat, what to wear, or who gets to pack what in their bags. Limit daily choices so there are fewer arguments and time wasters. Offer only one or two lunch or breakfast options each day so you aren’t scrambling to satisfy everyone’s preferences. If it is a struggle to have everyone like the same thing, then prepare by having a family meeting where everyone gives you 3-4 items they will eat. Figure out which are easiest for you to prepare and make for everyone in the family.

By planning ahead this year and using these 5 Tips To Easy Back To School Schedule Transitions, you are sure to make this school year the best and easiest yet. Listen to your children and their needs and adjust as necessary to create a relaxed schedule everyone can abide by without issue.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
