Ounce for ounce oil from spray cans is more expensive than much higher quality oils. I prefer to splash a little oil in a pan and then use a basting brush to thoroughly coat the dish with oil:
It only takes a second. I have found that silicone basting brushes are easier to clean up than bristled basting brushes.
I also use leftover butter wrappers to grease the pans of some baked goods.
Have you found an alternative to spray on oils?

I need to do this. I have been thinking about alternatives to cooking spray, but hadn’t thought about this option. I do love my silicone basting brush. It cleans up so nicely in the dishwasher. Thanks so much for the tip!
