I would prefer to have magazine cover kitchen counters: completely clear, except for the strategically placed bowl of fruit. I also wish that everyone who resided in my house realized that wiping down the counters was part of cleaning the kitchen, but I digress. I have come to realize that some clutter is good for my health. If I don’t leave the blender out, I won’t get it out of the pantry to make smoothies. And I will opt for less healthy drinks, rather than take the ice-tea maker out, dust it off, and set it up. Partially this can be blamed on laziness, but I think it is also because I prioritize just about everything else over taking care of myself. Leaving the blender, ice-tea maker, and yogurt maker on the counter, not only makes it easier for me to eat healthier, but they are a visual reminder that I need to take care of myself so that I can take care of my family.
Now that I have compromised my kitchen counters, I am thinking of neglecting the rest of the house to get more exercise! Do you have to remind yourself that your health is a priority? Do you feel guilty taking time to take care of yourself? I know I still do, but I am working on that!

I agree. My kitchen area is "cluttered" with the bread machine, flax in grinder, and scale – make it a lot easier to get healthy sandwiches going in the morning.

That is so smart. I need to do better with my eating and drinking and make sure i am eating more healthy just as I try to do with Blaze. I am important too.

I just cleaned off my countertops and put a bakers rack in my kitchen so I have another place to keep the appliances so they can be seen–and used. I still have a problem with putting myself and my health first but I am learning!

This is definitely an issue for me. A few months ago someone reminded me that it's not selfish to take a little time for yourself; if you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else.
But yes–I keep the blender, the coffee maker, and the stand mixer on the counter. If I didn't, I'd never bother to bring them out to use. They'd be sitting in the cabinet along with the popcorn maker, the chocolate melter, and the deep fryer.

Great point! The scale is coming out and staying out!

Great post. I'm with you on hating counter clutter but needing my blender out. Health is definitely a top reason for some clutter. I also keep a kitchen scale on the counter so I don't just guess when I need to measure out portions.
