Keep this Fall Spiced Cider Punch recipe on hand for holiday parties. It's loaded with fruit and spices your guests will in enjoy in every sip.

Making this Fall Spiced Cider Punch brought on snippets of ancient history. Images percolated up into my consciousness and my eyes teared up and I smiled. Recently, I had a very particular memory of my mother. She’s has passed on now, but like most mothers, my mama was a dominant force in my life. Especially, when it comes to food and most things to do with the kitchen and cooking. My mom was a pretty good cook and an excellent homemaker.

Recently, I had a remembrance about my mother’s punch bowl. Perhaps it is nostalgia and a bit of melancholy (her birthday is in late November). Or maybe it’s the coming holiday season, Christmas and Thanksgiving were her favor holidays. I remember the Christmas dinner tables of my youth and how they were adorned with a cornucopia of food and at the center of the table sat my mother’s crystal punch bowl. So this recipe pays homage to Ma’ Dukes. Here’s to mama’s punch bowl. Cheers!

I have created a fall punch recipe so good it’ll make you want to fill ‘er up time and time again! And really, what’s not to like about a good punch! This one has sliced Honey Crisp and Granny Smith apples, sliced fall pears. Thin slices of Meyer lemons too. And although the fresh fruit is amazing I’ve tossed in several additional ingredients. Let’s see, I got spices, like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. And I got ahold of two most excellent ingredients that I just had to try. Red Jacket makes some very delicious Raspberry Apple Juice and Fuji Apple Juice and both of them went head first into our punch as well. But, there’s more. The juice of half a lemon and a cup of half tea and half lemonade mix is in there too. That’s what I did, and I think it’s gonna make you so happy. After tasting this punch, you’ll have no choice but to do a lil’ happy dance right there in the middle of the kitchen. Let’s dance!

Oh, and about the Apple, Pear, and Lemon Ice Ring! I’ll say this; it’s just about as easy as falling, especially if you fall with a Bundt cake pan in your hand. And I am almost certain you have seen your share of ice rings. So, what makes this ice ring special? Well, find out right here.

Alea’s note: Derrick, his wife Tatanisha and I had an opportunity to taste test apple cider courtesy of Gowan Orchards at the International Food Bloggers Conference. We were both inspired by the delicious flavors. You can see us having fun with one of Gowan Orchard’s hard ciders here.

Keep this Fall Spiced Cider Punch recipe on hand for holiday parties. It's loaded with fruit and spices your guests will in enjoy in every sip. Directions:

  1. In a large punch bowl add fruit juices, tea and lemonade mix, water, spices, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Prepare fruit using a large mandolin slicer.
  3. Add fruit to the punch and place punch bowl into the refrigerator overnight.  Although the punch can be served immediately, allowing the flavors to mend overnight intensifies the flavor.
  4. Add your Apple, Pear, and Lemon Ice Ring.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
