Quick and Easy Vanilla Steamer Recipe - how to make flavored steamed milk

My youngest son doesn’t like hot chocolate. He simply does not like chocolate and isn’t actually that fond of sweets. When we are home, I usually make him a cup of white hot chocolate when our family is enjoying cocoa. But when we go out to a coffee shop for cocoa and coffee, we didn’t know what to order for him. He would often sip water while we were enjoying our hot beverages. Which made me feel like a bad mom even if I did pay several dollars for a bottle of water!

On one of our visits, a barista suggested that we order a vanilla steamer for my son. My son loved it. I think he likes it even more than he likes white hot chocolate because a vanilla steamer isn’t as sweet.

A vanilla steamer is very easy to make. You just need to make sure that you don’t let the milk reach a boil. I find this is easier to do in a microwave than on the stovetop. Plus it only takes a minute to 90 seconds in the microwave and you can heat the milk in the cup you are going to serve it in which not only saves time but saves on extra dirty dishes.

You can also add 1/8 teaspoon – 1/4 teaspoon of spices such as cinnamon, chai spice, or pumpkin pie spice in addition to your flavoring or in place of the flavoring.
