Each week I participate in Food Waste Friday hosted by The Frugal Girl. Monitoring my food waste, and documenting it with a picture, keeps me accountable and motivates me to remain vigilant in my goal to minimize, if not eliminate, food waste in my household.
We did not waste food again last week. I would love to take credit and say this was due to my efficient cooking plans, but in truth it is because I did little cooking and even less shopping this week. My family had no choice but to eat the food that was available to them.
I made two quick trips to the store. When I returned from the first trip, my teenage son eagerly offered to help put away the groceries. My daughter said, “Don’t get excited; all she bought was ingredients.”

Sheila, I don't mind at all. I am going to share another grocery shopping story later today.

I love that–I only bought ingredients. My family whines so much when they don't have junk food to eat–I say we have a pantry full and a freezer full and a fridge full of food but it's not what they want. I guess I usually only buy ingredients too–I'll have to start using that line, if you don't mind.

That is so funny. One of our sons often complains that there is nothing to eat, the other, though is not above eating "ingredients", so I have to make sure they know those olives, pecans or shredded cheese are for a recipe, lol.
Good job on not wasting this week, again 🙂

haha! How often have I heard, "There's nothing good to eat!"? Looks like we both need to do some more training of teens in turning ingredients into that coveted food!

That's funny!
Only ingredients- as opposed to food!
