Did you know you can assemble pancakes, bacon, and fruit into the most adorable of red-nosed reindeers? Not only do we have the assembly instructions for these Reindeer Pancakes but we also have a tasty recipe for fluffy pancakes that you will want to use to make pancakes year-round. While it is fun to surprise kids with these reindeer pancakes, this is also a fun recipe to make with your children.
To make reindeer pancakes you need a few foods:
Pancakes: You need 2 pancakes per reindeer. Use our recipe below or use your favorite recipe.
Bacon: You need 3 strips of bacon per reindeer. The bacon needs to be cooked in fairly flat strips. If you wish, you can cook the bacon in the oven while you are making the pancakes on the griddle.
Berries: You need blueberries to make the eyes, and raspberries to make the nose on each pancake.
Whipped Cream: Whipped cream is used to make the whites of the deer’s eyes. You can use store bought or our Homemade whipped cream recipe.
Reindeer Pancakes Recipe
These delicious reindeer pancakes are fun twist on traditional pancakes.
Ingredients:
Pancake Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups milk
- ¼ cup (½ stick) butter, melted but cooled slightly
Ingredients needed to assemble each Reindeer:
- 12 slices bacon, 3 for each reindeer (How to cook bacon in the oven)
- 4 Raspberries, 1 for each reindeer
- Whipped topping (Homemade whipped cream recipe)
- 8 Blueberries, 2 for each Reindeer
Directions:
-
- In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla. Then, slowly add the butter.
- Create a well in the middle of the dry ingredients. Pour wet ingredients into the well and stir the batter until combined. There may be small lumps. Allow the batter to rest for at least 5 minutes.
- Heat a griddle to 300 degrees. Spritz with non-stick cooking spray or coat with additional butter prior to adding batter.
- For the reindeer, pour about 1 cup batter on the griddle as the base of the head. Pour about ⅓ cup batter into another circle to be the reindeer snout. When bubbles begin to break on the surface of the pancakes, flip and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes or until completely cooked through. Repeat until you have 4 large and 4 small pancakes.
- To decorate the reindeer, place the larger pancake on the lower half of a large plate. Place the smaller pancake over the bottom portion of the first pancake. Place a raspberry in the center of the top pancake as the reindeer’s nose. Break one piece of bacon in half. Arrange the two full slices of cooked bacon to stretch from under the top pancake across the plate. Lay the bacon halves across the whole piece to form antlers. Just before serving, add two small dots of whipped cream over the nose and add a blueberry on each whipped cream dot.
- Repeat until you have assembled all of the reindeer pancakes.
Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such maple syrup, chocolate syrup, or blueberry syrup.
