This recipe for Turtle Candy Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies is addictive. I already love my Oreo cookies, and I love turtle candy with the pecan, caramel, and chocolate combination. Combining the two of them is a recipe for perfection. This is a super easy recipe to make and is going to be a favorite treat for you and your family.
Making turtle candy used to be a long process full of perfectly dipping caramels and pecans. This recipe for Turtle Candy Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies is so much easier and even better. Instead of dipping everything, you simply layer things into a mold. I love using these round molds for this treat, and keep a few of them on hand so I can make large batches all at one time.
Turtle Candy Dipped Oreo Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
- 24 Oreo Thins cookies
- 12 Kraft caramels, unwrapped
- 12-ounce bag chocolate chips
- 12 large pecan halves

Directions:
1. Line a microwave-safe plate with parchment paper. Place 6 Oreo thin cookies, in a circle, on the plate.
2. Place an unwrapped caramel on top of each cookie.
3. Microwave for 12-15 seconds to soften the caramels. Remove from microwave and place an Oreo thin cookie on top of each caramel. Gently press down on each cookie to help spread the warm caramel to the edges.
4. Repeat Steps 1-3 to make 6 additional cookies (12 total).
5. Warm the chocolate chips in a double boiler over medium heat. Stir occasionally until melted and smooth. Transfer to a small microwave-safe bowl for easier handling.
6. Fill each cookie mold 1/3 of the way with the melted chocolate.
7. Place a caramel-filled cookie in each mold, on top of the melted chocolate.
8. Spoon additional melted chocolate on top of each cookie, up to the fill line. Set aside the remaining melted chocolate for later use.
9. Chill for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
10. Line a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Gently pop each cookie out of its mold and place on the lined cookie sheet.
11. Re-heat the melted chocolate in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. Drizzle the melted chocolate on top of each Oreo cookie.
12. Immediately place a pecan half on top of the drizzled chocolate.

Can these cookies be frozen?

I have never frozen these cookies. They would survive the freezer, but the chocolate coating may crack or become discolored in the freezer.
