The most inexpensive cleaner is organic and nontoxic: Hot Water! My sweet husband forgot to grease the pans before he made Breakfast Pizzas for my son. The pan with baked-on cheese is pictured below.

I soaked an old dish cloth in really hot water, then spread it over the baking sheet and let it sit for 10 -15 minutes.

Voila, the mess easily wipes away. No scrubbing required.
Recipe for Breakfast Pizzas

6 mini bagels, sliced in half (these can be found at Trader Joe’s)
~ 3/4 Cup leftover spaghetti sauce
~ 3/4 Cup leftover cheese (I have Mexican cheese)
Optional: leftover vegetables, diced
Grease the baking sheet! Spread the mini bagels on the sheet with cut side up. Spoon ~ 1 T of spaghetti sauce on each bagel half. Sprinkle ~ 1 T of cheese on each bagel half. Sprinkle diced vegetables on top ( I usually add onion and bell pepper). Bake at 350 for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Note: I don’t usually add meat because there is already meat in my spaghetti sauce.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
