If you have ever been to the Nevada Museum of Art, you know it is an amazing place filled with beautiful exhibits that we are sure not to touch.  But for those of us and our children there is something fun, free and totally hands-on…   Hands on 2nd Saturdays!

2nd Saturday Nevada Museum of Art

Hands On Second Saturdays provides hands-on activities throughout the Museum. The activities offered encourage adults and children to make art together.  It is for ages 3 to adult and admission is FREE all day.

Local Landscapes and Wells Fargo Community Day

Saturday, September 12, 2015
10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Inspired by the exhibition, Tahoe: A Visual History, children and families will create artworks inspired by the West and the Lake Tahoe region while enjoying free hands-on art activities, performances, storytelling and a docent guided tour.

SCHEDULE
10 am – 6 pm | Free Admission for all Visitors
10 am – 6 pm | View the Wells Fargo Stage Coach
10 am – 4 pm | Torn Collage Landscapes
10 am – 4 pm | Western Watercolor Sunsets
10:30 & 11 am | Children’s Storytelling with Kathleen Durham

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

Saturday, October 10, 2015
10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Celebrating the Mexican tradition of Dia del los Muertos, participants will enjoy a cultural presentation, interactive performance, storytelling and hands-on art activities. Participants will be invited to contribute to a group altar honoring the souls of loved ones and will explore the Mexican tradition of papel picado.

Inspired by the exhibition, Tahoe: A Visual History, children and families will be engaged with free art activities related to the geography of the Lake Tahoe region and will enjoy free hands-on art activities, performances, storytelling and a docent guided tour.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
