Fall and winter are perfect for baked goods and nothing spells cold weather desserts like a just out of the oven apple crisp. But if you think regular old apple crisp is a hoot then you may just lose your mind after you get a load of this Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp with Marshmallow.

I know, I know it’s a lot to wrap one’s mind around, but our new twist on this classic dessert is actually “a thing” worth hunting and gathering the ingredients for. You’ll need a few baking pears, a Granny Smith apple, and another baking apple. I used a honey crisp. Plus, cranberries.

Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp with Marshmallow Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 bosc pear
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  5. Spoon pear, apple and cranberry mixture into a baking dish and top liberally with the oatmeal topping.Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp with Marshmallow- apple crisp in a dish

  6. Place Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp on the center rack in the oven and bake for forty-five minutes to an hour.

  8. Turn oven to the high broil setting.

Here is the finished product and if I had to describe it in a single word, I would say, “OMGEE! OMGEE! “OMGEE!”

I cannot even begin to tell you what difference a lil’ bit of toasted marshmallow creme makes. The toasted marshmallow gives this apple recipe LIFE!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
