Vinegar Natural Weed Spray

Supplies:

  • 1 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Spray bottle

Directions:

Pour vinegar into the spray bottle.  Spray on individual weeds targeting leaves and avoiding any plants you want to keep healthy.

Dish Soap Natural Weed Spray

Supplies:

  • 1/4 Cup Dawn Dish Soap
  • 1 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 2 Cups Hot Water
  • Spray Bottle

Directions:

Combine dish soap and vinegar in spray bottle. Pour in hot water and gently shake.  Don’t over shake, as you don’t want to create a lot of bubbles.  This is simply to incorporate the mixture.  Spray on leaves only of plants you wish to kill.  This is very similar to the vinegar water spra, but the addition of dish soap helps the mixture cling to the leaves, which results in more plants dying as desired.

Salty Natural Weed Spray

Supplies:

  • 3 Cups Boiling Water
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • Spray Bottle

Directions:

Bring water to a boil.  Mix in salt until it dissolves.  Allow to cool and pour into spray bottle.  Spray direclty on leaves, avoiding other plants you don’t want to kill.

As you can see, the ingredients of these natural weed spray options for your backyard garden are already in your home.  The only other considerations you should make are to be careful about not spraying onto the plants you want to preserve.  Salt and vinegar are the base of all of these sprays and you want to avoid getting them on the plants you want to save.  You’ll also want to be careful about getting salt into the soil as it can spread and hurt surrounding plants.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
