DIY Pool Noodle Garden Markers - How to make easy and frugal DIY pool noodle garden markers to label your plants.

I love not only finding fun ways to use pool noodles, but also finding fun ways to label our garden plants. These pool noodle garden markers combine both of my loves, and create a cool way to mark your plants and even help kids get in on the gardening action! Take a look below at how you can craft these easy and inexpensive pool noodle garden markers, perfect for keeping your plants organized.

DIY Pool Noodle Garden Markers

Supplies Needed:

  • Assorted pool noodles
  • Serrated knife
  • Sharpie marker
  • Wood craft sticks
  • Hot glue, glue gun

Directions:

1. To begin, you want to cut the pool noodle into a 1-2 inch segment. I love using serrated knives for this because they make clean and even (not to mention easy) cuts.

2. Once you cut the pool noodle into the segment, you can then slice it in half. This makes the marker lighter and helps it apply to the craft stick easier.

3. Take the half slice segment and write the name of the plant you wish to identify on it. The Sharpie marker is perfect for this!

4. You can now apply a generous amount of craft glue to the end of the wood craft stick. Press the pool noodle segment to the glue and hold it in place until dry.

One thing I love about these pool noodle garden markers is I make them with various colored pool noodles. For my little kids who can’t read yet, I can send them out to pick herbs based on the color of the marker. It works like a charm! For example if I need dill, I tell them to look for the orange marker. They then start to identify the word with the plant, and also they enjoy being able to independently pick herbs themselves.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
