1. Make your own moisturizing lip balm.
Mix some glycerin and coconut oil using the ratio of 1 to 3. Let the mixture refrigerate until firm. Use in place of your regular lip balm for super moisturizing.

2. Boost your shave cream.
Add a few drops of glycerin to your shaving cream in order to soothe shaving irritations and hydrate skin.

3. Make your own guest soaps.
Buy soap molds, glycerin chunks, and scented oils of your choice. Mix and pour into the molds. Allow to set. Then, just pop the soaps out and use.

4. Make your own spray-on skin hydrating solution.
In a spray bottle combine some spring water and a few tablespoons of glycerin. After you remove your make up at night or work out, spray your face for some extra hydration.

5. Create your own makeup.
You can mix a little crushed eyeshadow with a drop of glycerin to create eyeliner. Or, a dab of lipstick mixed with glycerin makes the perfect pop of blush.

If you suffer from oily skin, try dabbing a little glycerin on problem areas. It can help reduce the oil and offer proper moisture.

If you are suffering from dry, irritated, or swollen skin, add a few teaspoons of glycerin to your bath water. It can help soothe these irritations and offer full body moisturizing too.

8. Hide pores.
Applying a thin layer of glycerin to your skin can help by filling in pores and making them less visible.

9. Apply makeup more easily.
Add a few drops of glycerin in with your pre-makeup moisturizer. It will help smooth out the skin and soften it as well, making your cosmetics application an easier one.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
