10 frugal uses for toothpaste around the home
Toothpaste is one of those stockpile items that many bargain shoppers have on hand. And while it is great for keeping your smile clean and white, toothpaste is also great for many household uses too. Take a look below at 10 frugal uses for toothpaste that will knock your socks off!

10 Frugal Uses for Toothpaste

1. Hang posters.
Do you hate when your kids nail posters onto their walls? Use a few dabs of toothpaste instead. It will adhere the poster to the wall without making holes or harming the paint.

2. Fill in nail holes.
White toothpaste is great for filling in nail holes. Just fill the hole and let the toothpaste dry. You can then paint over it and it will be like it was never there.

3. Clean food scents out of hands.
When you get done cutting certain foods (like onions) you will notice that your hands smell. Wash them with a dab of toothpaste and then rinse well. The smell will be gone!

4. Scrub stubborn stains.
You can use a dab of toothpaste to scrub stubborn countertop or dish stains. Toothpaste is made to banish stains and is slightly abrasive, so it is the perfect product.

5. Clean your headlights.
Rub a little toothpaste over your headlights and wipe away to remove any dirt and debris. This will help your headlights to really do their job and light the way.

6. Wipe away crayon.
When crayon marks end up on walls and floors, use a dab of toothpaste and a soft cloth to wipe them away. It will help the crayon lift off without any problems!

7. Treat bites.
Small bug bites can be soothed with a dab of toothpaste. Many pastes contain an antiseptic which is great for the bite and can help it heal faster.

8. Treat acne.
The antiseptic in toothpaste can also help with minor acne. Place a small dab on acne that pops up and see if it helps it heal faster.

9. Remove price tag grime.
When removing a price tag or label from glassware, toothpaste is great for getting the stubborn goo residue that often remains. Just scrub and rinse!

10. Make window art.
A tube of white toothpaste is great for making dabs of “snow” on a winter window. You can also write messages for children’s birthdays on mirrors.

See how easy it can be to use toothpaste in other areas of your home and life? Give these tips a try and you will never want to be without a tube again!

We used to use toothpaste to fill holes in the dorm walls in college – so I know that one works 🙂

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
