10 Random Acts of Kindness for Christmas including free random acts of kindness as well as easy random acts of kindness for kids for Christmas!

Random acts of kindness are one of those things I like doing all year long, however the season of Christmas always tends to make me be a little more diligent about doing them as I get caught up in the warm fuzzies of this special time of year. Doing random acts of kindness is a great way to not only spread holiday cheer, but honestly, I kind of enjoy the way it makes me feel to make the world a better place even if it’s just for a moment. You don’t have to do something crazy or even expensive.

Random acts of kindness are just a way to show others that the world is still a good place. Usually, I do random acts of kindness on complete strangers. I like the idea of hoping my random act finds it’s way to someone who really needed it. If you are hoping to spread some love around the holiday season, here are 10 Random Acts of Kindness for Christmas that you can do.

10 Random Acts of Kindness for Christmas

1. Buy a hot chocolate for someone. One with all the fancy toppings such as chocolate shavings and whipped cream. Get a treat such as a cookie, too. Find a random homeless person to give it to.

2. Pay someone’s bill at the store. Find someone in line at a store with a small order on the belt. It may be a toy or a few items for a Christmas dinner. Pay for their order when you pay for your own. If this is something you can’t afford to do, buy a couple of gift cards for the store you are at for $5 each and give them to the clerk to hand out.

3. If you knit or crochet, make a couple of simple scarves and give them to a homeless shelter or the local children’s shelter.

4. Go the extra mile to be extra kind to everyone you encounter when Christmas shopping. Make it a point to especially do this with sales clerks and cashiers as their jobs can be extremely stressful this time of year. If you see any parents out with their children and they are well behaved, say something to the parent about how wonderfully well-behaved their children are.

5. Buy some new magazines, coloring books, puzzle books, and crayons and take them to a local children’s hospital. If you don’t have one near you, donate to a shelter.

6. Pay it forward at the movie theater. If you are going to a hot new movie this holiday season, why not pay for 2 extra tickets and tell the cashier to give them to someone just because?

7. Find 5 strangers to compliment one day. You may find that you can easily find more than 5 and you may have just made someone’s day buy saying something nice to them during a season that can be hard for some people.

8. Have some fun scrap fabric? Make some fun pillowcases for children in the hospital. Call your local children’s hospital or floor and ask them if they accept them and what steps you need to take to make sure they are donated. You can also find more information from the website Cases for Cancer.

9. Go to the dollar store with 10 single dollars and hide them around the store in the holiday section or the section with things people would buy for stockings.

10. Shovel your neighbor’s snow. If it snows and you are up before your neighbor, do their walkway and driveway before they get up and don’t let them know you did it.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
