10 Simple Ways to Save Money on Drying Your Clothes- These 10 tips will save you money on drying your clothes. They are easy and more energy-efficient!

Did you know that using the dryer costs more than using the washing machine? There are several ways you can save money on this with these 10 Simple Tips for Saving Money on Drying Your Clothes. These aren’t all those simple, “just don’t use the dryer tips”, because that isn’t always 100% practical.  They will show you ways to use a dryer and still save money along with other energy-saving tips.

10 Simple Tips for Saving Money on Drying Your Clothes

1. Use the spin cycle twice: This will get out any extra water and the less water in your clothes when they go into the dryer the less time they will need to be in the dryer .

2. Hang clothes to dry: As said before, the simplest way to save on the dryer is to not use it. In the warm months and on nice days consider hanging your clothes outside to dry.

3. Use a drying rack: When the weather isn’t so nice outside you can use an indoor drying rack to save money. You don’t have to hang up everything either, I would suggest handing up the bigger items that would take longer to dry.

4. Wool dryer balls: Did you know that using the wool dryer balls can save you time on drying your clothes? They help draw out the moisture out of the clothes.

5. Don’t over stuff your dryer: Make sure that you aren’t over stuffing your dryer. If the clothes can’t move freely inside the drum of your dryer they will take forever to dry or won’t dry at all.

6. Put in a dry towel: Yes, putting in a dry towel seems counterproductive but the dry towel works like the wool dryer balls. It helps pull out the moisture from the clothes which helps them dry faster.

7. Don’t use the highest setting: Using the highest dryer setting doesn’t always mean your clothes will dry faster, it just means it will cost you more money to dry them.

8. Don’t use the drier to get out wrinkles: Don’t toss clothes back into the dryer to get out wrinkles. Use an iron as needed and to avoid wrinkles fold and hang up clothes right away.

9. Clean out the lint trap: Clean out the lint trap after every use. This allows the dryer  to vent properly and will get your clothes to dry quick. Things like towels and blankets clog the lint trap faster and slow down drying time.

10. Check the vent hose: You should do a regular check on the vent hose in the back of the dryer to make sure it isn’t kinked and it is clear so the air is flowing freely. This will ensure your clothes are drying a fast as possible.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
