10 Things That Are Cheaper to Buy Online- These items are generally less expensive when purchased online. You may surprised by how much money you can save!

Online shopping is a pretty normal part of most people’s life, but did you know that some things are actually a lot cheaper when bought online rather than in person at a brick and mortar
establishment? Now, this isn’t to say that it will always be cheaper. There is the occasional fluke where you find something at a discount store. In general, the following are 10 Things That Are Cheaper to Buy Online.

10 Things That Are Cheaper to Buy Online

Books- Think of the internet like a giant book store. You can get many books for free in electronic version as well as many more used books for mere pennies. Before you head to a bookstore to buy a title you are looking for, look it up online to see if you can get it cheaper. Amazon is a great source for this.

Travel itinerary- Sites offering discount hotel rooms, flights, and car rentals are not new, but you really should give them a shot if you haven’t already. If you are flexible on your travel times and dates you can save 30% or more on these items.

Electronics- Cameras, tablets, and other small electronic toys are usually a lot cheaper online. You can find many sites that sell overstock as well as refurbished products.

Movies- DVDs and Blue-rays are much cheaper when bought from online retailers such as Amazon and eBay. You might even be able to find ones that are not in stores anymore. This is also true for video games. Additionally, if you don’t mind the electronic versions of movies, you can buy them to watch over and over from streaming services. These services include Amazon Prime or Vudu.

Music- Do you remember making mixed tapes for your friends and loved ones? Buying Mp3s is the newest way to do this. Instead of buying the entire album by an artist that you may not even want, just buy your favorite songs. This is a great way to create a mixed CD that is custom.

High End Shoes and Clothing- There are a ton of overstock retailers that sell high end clothing and accessories at deep discounts. Plus, if buying used is OK with you, you can find deals on many higher end fashions on bidding sites such as eBay or even Craigslist.

Specialty Food Items- Items like almond flour, gluten-free food, and teas are often cheaper to buy in bulk online than at a specialty or natural food store. With food, the shipping is often free if you make a minimum purchase.

Magazines- Just Google magazine subscriptions and you will find many codes out there to get very low cost subscriptions to your favorite magazines as well as free trials. Never buy magazines at the newsstand price again!

Gift Cards- Don’t go to the store and buy a gift card for that special someone or even yourself. There are sites like GiftCardGranny.com and GiftCardRescue.com that sell discounted gift cards for less than the amount of money left on the card. If you ever get a gift card you don’t want or need, you can sell them for cash online as well.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
