10 Ways to Use Castor Oil in Beauty and Health, including hair care, skin treatments, sore muscle relief, nail care, and more.I don’t know about you, but when I think about castor oil the first thing that comes to mind is the old wives tale about drinking it to induce labor. Well let’s look at castor oil in a whole new light, shall we? Castor oil really does have some practical uses, and it may be just the product you are looking for to take care of some common issues. Take a look below at 10 uses for castor oil that you can try. Chances are, you will look at castor oil in a whole new way!

10 Ways to Use Castor Oil in Beauty and Health

1. Strengthen your hair.
Castor oil contains omega 6 fatty acids which feed your hair and make it strong. Strong hair grows quickly and really shines. Apply a thin layer of castor oil to your hair and wrap your head in a towel. Let the oil sit for one hour then rinse.

2. Reduce dandruff.
Castor oil has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which can help reduce dandruff of the scalp. Just apply a few drops to your fingertips and massage into the scalp for fast relief.

3. Banish split ends.
Take some castor oil between your finger tips and apply it to the ends of your hair. The fatty acids will help nourish the split ends and reduce further breakage.

4. Condition eyelashes.
Eyelashes that are dry and brittle tend to break. Take some castor oil between your finger tips and brush gently over your lashes. Doing so once a week can help strengthen lashes and promote growth.

5. Treat under eye wrinkles.
You can mix a drop of castor oil with a drop of almond or coconut oil and use as an under eye cream. It will soften this delicate area and reduce the look of wrinkles and darkness.

6. Soften stretch marks.
While nothing can erase stretch marks, castor oil can help soften the skin and reduce the appearance when used regularly. Just massage a little oil onto the marks each night. This method also work with reducing the appearance of scars.

7. Soften nails.
If your nails are dry and breaking, add a little castor oil to your manicure routine. Just add a dab of oil on each nail and massage in. It will also help soften cuticles too!

8. Soothe sore muscles.
Massage castor oil into sore muscles and cover them with a warm washcloth. Castor oil helps with reducing inflammation and can therefore help reduce the pain.

9. Get rid of constipation.
Most people know of castor oil because they may have taken it for constipation. Taking a teaspoon full can stimulate the bowels and get things moving in no time. DO NOT take castor oil when pregnant.

10. Treat skin conditions.
Castor oil can be used to help moisturize dry and scaly skin, as well as minor skin infections and even fungal infections. Castor oil can help relieve swelling and itching associated with these issues, and can even fight the fungus. Just add to your topical creams or use a few drops as you would lotion.

Castor oil is by no means a thing of the past. As you can see there are still many ways to use castor oil to make life a little easier and more comfortable. Give these 10 uses for castor oil a try and see if you aren’t a fan!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
