5 Essential Oils for Your Hair - Essential oils can make great natural hair treatments. Take a look at these five essentials for healthy hair.

Are you looking for that ultimate healthy hair look? There are several things you can do to get the look you want. One way is to use essential oils and there are several different oils that are ideal for the hair. Note: before using an essential oil on your skin, make sure that it is therapeutic grade.

5 Essential Oils for Your Hair

#1. Clary Sage Essential Oil

For women who have issues with hair loss, this could be an answer. Clary sage is rich with antioxidants and can help your scalp reach the ultimate pH levels. Of course, you can also mix clary sage with other types of essential oils to help you get the mix you’re looking for.

#2. Lavender Oil

You may have heard that lavender essential oil is perfect for putting you to sleep or calming you down, but it’s also ideal to balance out dry hair. Lavender oil is also perfect for hair thinning or loss. You can make a hair oil blend by putting a few drops into your own shampoo, or you can take a few drops (mixed with carrier oil) put them on your finger tips and massage them onto your scalp. You can even make your own lavender shampoo with this lavender rosemary shampoo recipe.

#3. Peppermint Oil

If you have oily hair, you may be looking for a way to make it less oily. That’s where peppermint essential oil comes in. There are tons of people who use this specific essential oil for their hair because peppermint oil can be used as a moisturizer without making your hair more oily. Again, you’ll want to mix the oil with a carrier oil to help avoid direct side effects if the peppermint oil is too strong for your body.

#4. Lemon Essential Oil

If you’ve been battling any sort of dandruff, then you’ll be excited to know that lemon essential oils can help you battle it. Experts would say the ultimate essential oil for dandruff is tea tree oil, but you should find the right mixture that works for you.

#5. Cypress Oil

This may not be an essential oil you’ve heard of, but it can do amazing things for your hair. It’s said that cypress oil can actually help boost the growth of hair. So, if you’re struggling with your hair not growing, add a little bit of cypress oil to your conditioner. Give it a few months and see if this method is something that will work for you.

You might have to do some mixing and matching to see what works for your situation. Sometimes it’s just a matter of adding more or less to your overall mixture.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
