12 Amazing Uses for Tea Tree Oil - Uses for tea tree oil in natural health remedies, homemade cleaning products, and homemade beauty products.

Tea tree oil has a reputation for being a cure-all and that is no exaggeration. The healing and disinfectant properties in tea tree oil makes it a very versatile essential oil. It can also boost your immunity, but keep in mind it should not be ingested because it is poisonous so only use topically. Here are 12 amazing uses for this wondrous oil.

12 Amazing Uses for Tea Tree Oil

1. Expectorant. For the common cough, cold, and congestion you can get relief from tea tree oil by rubbing it on your chest to inhale while sleeping. Or place a drop on your pillow at night to breathe in while you sleep to wake up feeling much better.

2. Hair care. You can reduce the amount of dandruff and dry skin you may have by applying a diluted amount of tea tree essential oil to your scalp.

3. Antiseptic. Tea tree oil can be applied directly to cuts, sores, insect bites, and stings to help prevent infection and to speed up the healing process.

4. Makeup remover. When mixed with canola oil and well blended, tea tree oil can be an excellent makeup remover. Use a cotton ball soaked in oil to clean face and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

5. Laundry. Just by adding a few drops of tea tree oil to your washing machine, you can freshen up your laundry loads.

6. Cleaner. Fill a spray bottle with water and add about 1-2 drops of oil for use as an all-purpose cleaner around the household.

7. Repellent. To help keep away fleas and ticks, use a few drops in your pet’s bed areas or crates.

8. Sunburns. Tea tree oil can naturally lessen the pain of a sunburn so apply the oil to your sunburned skin and gently rub it in.

9. Acne. Just add a drop to your everyday cleansing product or a dab on an acne breakout to help speed healing.

10. Breath freshener. Simply rinse your mouth with about 1 ounce of water and a drop of tea tree oil, but remember, do not swallow.

11. Aches and pains. Add about 10 drops of the oil along with a half cup of Epsom salts to a warm bath and massage into achy muscles for relief.

12. Mildew remover. To clean mold and mildew, mix 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil and 2 cups of water and shake well in a spray bottle.  Use on tough mold and mildew stains in sinks, tubs, and showers.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
