20 Unexpected Uses for Grapefruit Essential Oil

Grapefruit essential oil has many uses, from soothing sore throats to curbing sugar cravings! Here are 20 Unexpected Uses for Grapefruit Essential Oil.Grapefruit essential oil has some awesome uses besides smelling absolutely invigorating! However, not all essential oils are created equal! For many of these, you will need to make sure you have food-grade grapefruit essential oil as it needs to be safe to ingest. Please note, too, that none of this advice should take the place of a health care provider.

20 Uses for Grapefruit Essential Oil

 

1. Trying to cut sugar? You can actually inhale grapefruit essential oil to help curb those cravings. If you want to curb it throughout the day, try putting some into a diffuser.

2. Grapefruit essential oil can be a dieter’s best friend. Place a few drops into some water and mix for an appetite suppressing drink.

3. Sore throats can be soothed with 2 drops of grapefruit essential oil in some warm water. Gargle this and you can even swallow it if you want.

4. Get a natural energy boost by rubbing behind your ears and on your chest. Make sure you test your skin in a little spot beforehand as some people with sensitive skin might get irritation this way.

5. If you suffer from edema (swelling of limbs), try taking 1-2 drops on your tongue to help the body naturally rid itself of excess water.

6. Add 2 drops to your smoothies and it can aid in digestive issues.

7. Help your body release toxins by placing a drop into your cream or lotion before rubbing it on your skin.

8. Migraine headaches can be helped by applying a drop directly to your temples and rubbing it in. If you have very sensitive skin, try diluting it with some olive or coconut oil.

9. Add a drop or two to a cotton ball and place in your car for an invigorating natural air freshener. To get even more scent, place it in front of your heater vents.

10. Make your own disinfectant spray. Place 3-4 drops of the oil into some water and spray it on non-porous surfaces during cold season.

11. Use some grapefruit essential oil on acne. If your skin is ultra sensitive, try diluting it with some water. You can just dab it onto trouble areas and watch it clear up your acne quickly.

12. To prevent colds and flu and build up your immune system, add 1 drop of grapefruit essential oil to a glass or water and drink daily.

13. Looking for stress relief? Try taking a relaxing bath with a couple drops of grapefruit essential oil added in.

14. Add 2 drops of the essential oil to coconut oil and massage into your cellulite prone skin. It is a powerful anti-toxin and will help your body dissolve cellulite.

15. Add a couple drops of grapefruit essential oil to your shampoo or conditioner for shiny and healthy hair.

16. To slow down the signs of aging, use a drop of essential oil directly on your wrinkles. Make sure not to get any in the eyes.

17. Your kidneys can get a boost from this oil if you add it to water and drink it daily. Just use 1-2 drops.

18. Fight jet lag with this essential oil. When inhaled, it can help give you a boost in energy.

19. Mix grapefruit essential oil with some lotion and rub it on the soles of your feet for soothing those tired achy joints and muscles.

20. Help a head cold with grapefruit seed oil. Just create a steam-bath in your sink, place a towel over your head and add a couple drops of grapefruit essential oil to the mix. breathe in the steam for relief.

One word of caution: Grapefruit essential oil, like all citrus based oils can make you very sensitive to sun exposure. You can burn easily. So make sure to not go out in the sun too soon after applying.
