5 Easy (and frugal) recipes for cleaning products you can make yourself

If you are looking to clean your home naturally and inexpensively, making your own cleaning products may be ideal. If you are unsure about where to start, take a look below at 5 cleaning products you can make yourself. You only need a few common ingredients, and in no time you can whip up a batch of cleaning product that is safe and effective. Take a look so you can get started!

5 Cleaning Products You Can Make Yourself

#1 All Natural All Purpose Cleaner

Supplies needed:

  • ½  cup of vinegar
  • ½  cup baking soda
  • ½ gallon of water
  • Juice from 1 lemon

Directions:

Combine all of the ingredients into a gallon jug and mix well. There will be some fizzing and bubbling. This product is perfect for cleaning tubs, sinks, floors, and countertops. It will cut through grease and grime while adding a fresh scent at the same time.

#2 Magic Mold Buster

Supplies needed:

  • ½ cup hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Spray bottle

Directions:

Mix the two ingredients in a spray bottle. Apply liberally to any areas where mold occurs, such as certain kitchen spaces and bathroom tile. Allow the mixture to sit for one hour, then rinse and wipe clean. Use with care as this can lightened colored fabrics.

#3 Frugal and Fresh Furniture Polish

Supplies needed:

  • 3 drops of lemon oil
  • ½ cup warm water
  • Cotton cloth

Directions:

Mix the ingredients well. Apply the mixture to a soft, damp cloth. Rub onto furniture in a circular motion. It will clean the piece as well as add shine. Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Here are more ways to make your own furniture polish.

#4 All Natural Laundry Detergent

Supplies needed:

  •  1 cup of grated Fels Naptha soap
  • ½ cup washing soda
  • ½ cup of borax

Directions:

Mix the ingredients well and store in an air tight jar or canister. Add two tablespoons to the washing machine prior to loading the clothing. Run the cycle as you normally would. You can add more for heavier stains and soils.

#5 Wonderful Window Cleaner

Supplies needed:

  • 3 teaspoons of white vinegar
  • 1 ½ liters of warm water
  • Old newspapers (black and white print only)

Directions:

Mix the white vinegar with the warm water. Place it in a spray bottle and spray the windows liberally. Use a crumpled newspaper to wipe clean. The mixture of the vinegar and water plus the newspaper will leave you a sparkling, streak free shine.

Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
