7 Keto Diet Tips for Busy Moms

Even if you are running on a tight schedule, you can still eat keto friendly foods and maintain your weight and health. Look below at how to eat keto when in a hurry, and see how even with the busiest of lifestyles you can still eat healthily and stay healthy. It is easier than you may think even when you are busy running a household, working in or out of the home, and juggling everything else on your plate.  Here is what you need to know!

1. Prep every Sunday.

One of the easiest ways to keep healthy foods on hand is to prep these items each Sunday, or on a designated day of the week. At this time you can boil eggs, cook bacon, grill chicken, chop vegetables, and prepare other keto friendly foods that will store well. Then, during the week when lunch or dinner time hits it is as simple as reheating and eating. If these items are ready to go, you will be less likely to make a non-keto friendly food.

2. Keep grab and go snacks on hand.

When hunger hits, you need to keep grab and go snacks on hand. That way when you are waiting in line or driving, you have a keto-friendly snack to enjoy. Consider peanuts, cashews, almonds, or pistachios. Veggie sticks, veggie chips, and fruit low in natural sugars are also ideal.

3. Buy premade keto friendly foods.

Many brands are now offering pre-made keto friendly sides. Instead of making your own cauliflower rice or mashed cauliflower “potatoes”, you can now buy these items in your freezer section. The same goes for zucchini noodles or “zoodles.” Buy these items pre-made and frozen so you can take the time and hassle out of preparing them yourself.

4. Know which “check out” snacks are keto friendly.

Many times hunger strikes when we are in a check out lane. You might be tempted to grab a bag of chips or candy bar, but instead reach for a convenient keto approved snack. Some snacks you may wish to try are almonds or beef jerky. Both can satisfy your hunger without throwing you off track.

5. Invest in good food containers.

Make sure you have good, quality food containers at home so you can properly store your prepped foods. These can also be used to take your lunches to work or school. This way no matter where you go, your keto friendly foods can follow. Keeping your prepped keto foods fresh during the week is important, and quality containers will help make the job easier.

6. Keep a water bottle on you.

Finding keto friendly beverages can be hard. Always keep a quality water bottle on you so when options are low you can simply fill up and go. This way you stay healthy and hydrated and don’t have to waste time wondering what you should drink.

7. Know your fast food options.

If you have to drive through a restaurant, know your keto friendly options ahead of time. This way you can save time and get to where you need to be without sacrificing your keto diet. If you are unsure, most staff will be able to help make a suggestion. Keto is so popular these days that many people are ordering keto friendly when they pull up!

You might be in a hurry, but there is no reason why the keto diet should hold up the show. Consider these tips on how to eat keto when in a hurry, and see how they can help you stay on track no matter how much you are limited on time.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
