7 Ways to Update Your Front Porch- Improve the look of your porch with these 7 quick and inexpensive updates. A few small fixes can make a big difference! Is your front porch ready for a face lift? There are many ways to add character and color to your porch while still staying in your budget. Take a look below at 7 Ways to Update Your Front Porch so you can get the look you love for less! It will add value to your home as well as up your curb appeal. Even your neighbors are sure to notice. Here is how to get started.

7 Ways to Update Your Front Porch

1. Try bold furniture.
A pair of bright Adirondack chairs or bistro chairs are not only pretty, but practical too. They offer a pop of color while also a cozy place to enjoy your morning coffee or evening paper.

2. Consider an area rug.
A modern 5×7 area outdoor area rug can brighten up the space, make it more comfortable, and offer an updated look. Look for something weather resistant and colors that match your furniture, home exterior, and other outdoor elements.

3. Give railings a fresh coat of paint.
Is it time to give those porch railings or columns a fresh coat of paint? Use an outdoor/exterior paint that can withstand the elements. Try a bright, glossy color or go for something more traditional. It is sure to offer a nice and clean look.

4. Add some potted plants.
Find large and bold planters that can add a pop of color to your porch and hold plants and flowers during the growing seasons. Choose pots that compliment your exterior and are durable. Change the flowers during the various growing seasons so they are always fresh and bright.

5. Don’t ignore your door.
Your front door is one of the main focuses of your porch, so don’t neglect it. Give it a good cleaning and update the paint and hardware if needed. Consider a bright color using an easy to clean exterior paint. If your door is especially old and in disrepair, consider replacing it.

6. Clear away the clutter.
Is your porch a catch all for odds and ends? Clear that clutter away. If you need to, place a basket on the porch that can be used to store items in. Nothing makes a porch feel smaller than a bunch of clutter on it, so take care to clean it away.

7. Update your lighting.
Consider updating your porch light fixtures or give them a fresh coat of paint. This can change the look of a home quite easily. Choose fixtures that compliment the home and the time period it was built. Replace any burned out bulbs and you are ready to go!

See what just a few quick fixes can do? Updating your porch doesn’t have to be time consuming or budget consuming. Give these tips a try and see how easy updating your porch or patio can be.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
