Budget Friendly Tailgate Party Tips- Enjoy tailgating on a budget with these simple steps that will stretch your dollar without sacrificing the fun.

These budget friendly tailgate party tips are going to make game days this fall much easier on the budget. Everyone loves a fun party to watch their favorite team play, but these events can get costly when you are feeding a lot of people. Enjoy your tailgating event on a budget with a few simple tips that will stretch your dollar without sacrificing the fun.

Budget Friendly Tailgate Party Tips

Don’t worry about decorations. Tailgate parties often have tons of fun sports themed decorations. For a great time with your friends and family, you don’t need fancy banners or balloons. Tell everyone to wear their team colors or jerseys, and simply enjoy the time together without the fancy decorations, favors and accessories.

Stock up on supplies when on sale. You can easily grab things like paper towels, napkins, paper plates, or disposable cups on sale or using coupons and store in your pantry until party day. When you are watching sales in your stores on meats, grab the great deals in bulk and portion and freeze for future use. Hamburger, hot dogs, chicken, and steak are almost always at the best prices during summer months when grilling is popular. Grab some in advance and store in your freezer for those fun fall tailgating party days.

Serve kabobs. Everyone loves burgers and steaks, but it can get costly. Grab the mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and squash that are abundant and inexpensive and add in chunks of beef, chicken, pork, or sausage to create kabobs that give everyone a taste of their favorite things without you spending tons of money. They keep the grill theme going, without breaking the bank. Kabobs are also great for dessert items with chunks of pound cake and fresh fruit that can be dipped into whipped cream or chocolate syrup.

Keep the menu small. Instead of preparing dozens of dishes, go with a small menu to limit your choices and expenses. If you are hosting everything yourself, kabobs give you a great base with meat and vegetables. Add inexpensive potato salad or pasta salad as a side and a simple cupcake or fruit for dessert. Keeping your options limited is one of the best and easiest budget friendly tailgating party tips.

Make it potluck. If hosting you close friends and family, why not make it a potluck event? You can provide the main dish or grilled foods, and everyone else can bring side dishes, desserts and drinks. Assign categories and let others help you make it a full meal on a budget. Nobody is out a ton of money, and everyone enjoys a variety of food.

Skip the beer or make it BYOB. Right in line with the expense of meat on the grill comes the beer at most tailgating parties. Simply skip the alcohol altogether, or announce it as a BYOB event. You can provide drinks for yourself and your family, and if others want to drink alcohol they can bring it with them. This takes away a huge expense and will keep everyone happy in the process.

These budget friendly tailgate party tips will keep your family and friends coming back for great meals and fun times without breaking the bank. You can plan ahead for these events and look forward to a great time cheering on your favorite team while enjoying some yummy food with your favorite people.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
