A list of creative ways to make money online

In most parts of the country the job market is a little scarce. In fact for some it has been downright impossible to find a job. There are also mothers who stay home with children but wouldn’t mind earning a little extra money from home.

When you hear about making money from home most people instantly think a scam is involved. I’ll be a honest, a lot of work at home jobs are scams but there are just as many out there that are legitimate opportunities. I’ve worked at home since 2005 and I’m here to tell you that making money from home is possible! I’m also going to share some of my favorite companies that hire from home and some creative ways to make money online.

Creative Ways to Make Money Online

Freelance Writing

You don’t have to have a degree in English or journalism to make money writing online. There are several companies that hire writers to put together short articles. Some of my favorite places are Text Broker, Word Gigs and Fiverr. These jobs are not going to make you rich but you can earn several hundred per month working when you want and choosing the type of work you want to take on. This is a great way to make money for stay at home parents and college students.

Virtual Assisting

Virtual Assistants are in demand! More and more people are running companies from a home office and need a virtual assistant to help them with daily job duties. Coming across a virtual assistant position can be a little difficult but don’t hesitate to look on Craigslist, Mturk and my all time favorite is Fancy Hands! Fancy Hands is a great way to get your foot into the virtual workforce. Once hired on you will pick and choose what tasks you are interested in completing and you are paid on a per task basis. You can earn between $100 and $1000 per month depending on how many hours you want to work and how much work is available.

Customer Service

Are you great with people? If so working as a virtual customer service representative might be the right gig for you. This position isn’t going to be as flexible as the ones listed before but the pay is usually better. Several fortune 500 companies hire customer service reps including Apple! If you are interested in applying to work as a customer service rep, I recommend the following companies.

Working Solutions

West From Home

ACD Direct

Resources

If you are interested in finding more jobs from home, I highly suggest joining the free forum at Work Place Like Home and looking over the job leads on Rat Race Rebellion. You will find writing jobs, virtual teaching jobs, transcription, medical jobs and much more!

Anytime you are looking for an at home job please keep in mind that you will come across scammers. In order to avoid never pay for a job! You might have to pay for a background check but that is it. If it feels to good to be true, please don’t sign up if money is involved.

    Hi:
I’m nearing retirement age and as a nurse I am looking for a less physical way to participate in healthcare. Thanks for the info. I can’t wait to start my new life chapter.

    Hi Kristi,
Great post and could not be more timely! I have been searching for something to do from home so I will not have to find a 9-5 and leave my infant daughter :(. My background is in writing so I can’t wait to look at the freelance sites you mentioned. Have you ever heard of odesk? I’ve not worked with them yet but I set up a profile and it seems like a great avenue. I’d love to hear your feedback. Thanks for the post!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
