Frugal Fall Family Fun - Activities you can enjoy with your family even if you are on a budget.

Are you ready for some family fun this fall?

There are so many great activities you can do with your family during the fall season! When it comes to family fun during the fall, you won’t have to worry about breaking the budget. Thankfully, most fall activities are very affordable and family friendly. Make it a point to get out of the house this fall season and have some frugal fall family fun!

Frugal Fall Family Fun

Go Apple Picking – Fall is the perfect time of year to go apple picking. Most apple orchards welcome the public during the fall season. Some apple orchards even offer family activities during the weekends. One of the best things about going to an apple orchard is getting fresh apples at an affordable price. The kids will have a blast picking their own apples and learning about how apples grow. Make sure you bake lots of yummy apple recipes with the family! Carve Pumpkins – Pumpkin carving is such a fun activity to get the whole family involved in. You can get very creative with your pumpkins and show off each family members personality. If carving pumpkins isn’t your think that is okay too. There are tons of no carve techniques you can use. If you decided you don’t want to carve a pumpkin you can use paint, glitter, fabric or any other supplies you have lying around the house.

Visit a Fall Festival – Fall festivals are very popular right now and with good reason. Fall festivals are affordable and provide hours of entertainment for the whole family. Most fall festivals offer hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin picking, face painting and other family friendly activities. Fall festivals are typically hosted by local farmers, attending a fall festival is a nice way to support your community and local farmers.

Go Hiking – The leaves are changing, the weather is cooling down and it truly is the perfect time to get out and enjoy all that nature has to offer. Going on a hike with your family is a nice way to leave behind the phones, computers, video games and other electronics. Going on hikes with your family is a fun and very frugal fall activity. Hiking is also an activity that the whole family can enjoy no matter what the age. Here are some tips for hiking with kids.

Make a Wreath – If you enjoy decorating for the fall season, consider making your own wreath this year. Making your own wreath is a lot of fun, very easy and extremely affordable. Store bought wreaths can often cost $30 to $60, but you can make your own wreath for under $15. To make your wreath even more affordable use leaves, pine cones and other natural supplies. Most of these items you can find right in your own yard.

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
