Must Do Frugal Green Living Changes- Making the change towards a more eco-friendly home is easy to do. Give these frugal tips a try and see for yourself.

For every family that really feels they need to become Eco-friendly or go green, there are specific things they really have to think about. These Must Do Frugal Green Living Changes are on the top of the list when you decide to make this lifestyle change.

Must Do Frugal Green Living Changes

Switch to cloth. It doesn’t matter whether you are switching out diapers, feminine hygiene products, or simply your napkins and cleaning supplies to cloth. Begin somewhere and gradually add in more and more cloth versus disposable. While paper products will be biodegradable, they are still wasteful and unnecessary when you have a multitude of cloth alternatives.

Eliminate unnecessary chemicals. Streamline your cleaning system to include a multitude of items that you can make using vinegar, water, witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide, and essential oils. From laundry detergent to your regular disinfectant for counter tops, you can make homemade products with little to no chemicals. This is better for your health, the environment and ultimately your budget. These DIY Peppermint Toilet Bombs are easy to make at home and will help cut down on toilet scrubbing.

Unplug. Unplug appliances and electronic devices. Shut off the TV, gaming systems, and phones to spend time with each other. To unplug means not just removing a cord from an outlet, but to focus on things that don’t require all of that energy to be used. Play games with your kids. Go for walks instead of hooking up the treadmill or elliptical. Spend time unplugged both physically and emotionally.

Recycle. Recycling starts with things like sorting your paper, plastic, and aluminum products as you throw away garbage each day. It continues into how you think about items around your home. Don’t just throw items away, find a way to effectively repurpose them. Everything from milk cartons to old stained bedding can be upcycled or recycled within your home.

Making a lifestyle change to a more Eco-friendly home and family is something that is truly easy to begin. A few simple must do frugal green living changes like those listed above can make a huge impact on your family as well as the environment around you.

Do you have suggestions for disposing of out of date shampoo/conditioners and other hair products that didn’t work out? I’m reluctant to wash them down the sink as we all know that doesn’t truly make these products “disappear.” I appreciate any thoughts you might share.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
