Winter skin can quickly become dry and itchy due to the wind, cold, rough fabrics, lack of moisture in the air, and harsh cleaning products. You can combat that with a good rich moisturizer like the  Peppermint Vanilla Whipped Body Butter we are sharing with you today. Don’t worry, no peppermint candies were used in this recipe. Instead, the body butter is made from simple, natural ingredients like shea butter, peppermint essential oil, argan oil, and almond oil.

Whipped Body Butter

The combination of shea butter, argan oil, and almond oil not only moisturizes your skin but also helps lock in the moisture.

Peppermint essential oil brightens and tones skin, improves blood circulation, and can even help soothe weary muscles.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Shea Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Almond Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Argan Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vitamin E Oil
  • 15-20 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Directions:

  1. Add the shea butter, almond oil, and argan oil to a small saucepan. Melt over medium-low heat, stirring frequently. You could also place the ingredients in a heat safe dish and melt in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time stirring between cycles until melted.
  2. Remove from the heat and place the pot into the refrigerator until the top of the mixture begins to firm up, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Scoop out the mixture and place it in the bowl of a stand mixer, or you can use a hand mixer and a heavy solid bowl.
  4. Add the peppermint essential oil, vitamin e oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix until it is whipped up and well combined.
  6. Transfer the body butter to a container with a tight-fitting lid, such as a mason jar.

Store the body butter in a cool location.

If you keep the body butter in a very warm room the mixture may soften or even melt. If this happens, you can chill it and whip it up again.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
